Ethan and Avery are the names of my two oldest children and are the inspiration and namesake of the company. The photographer of all the sessions here at Ethan Avery Photography is Andrea Vasquez - you can read more about her on the ABOUT tab of this website.
Contact us as soon as possible with your approximate due date so we can pencil in a session in our calendar. Once baby arrives, send us a quick email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or preferably a text to 832-338-0679 so we can firm up the session date (Typically takes place between 4 to 10 days after birth)
This may be an obvious one, but when you've barely had any sleep and have been adjusting to a new schedule it's so easy to forget the simplest of things.
Make sure you have plenty of diapers, wipes, burp cloths, pacifiers, formula, water and bottle if baby is bottle feed and at least one change of clothing that will not be used for the session.
Think outside the box - Suggested Items for images are also - Wedding bands (mom and dad), any special blankets or family heirlooms, special items like football helmets, hardback books if you love to read or are a lawyer etc, anything you a very interested in let me know ahead of time and we can see what we can think up. Love music - baby sleeping on sheet music, play the guitar, dad a fireman (bring the helmet), love baseball or football bring the balls.
Newborn Sessions are typically booked to start around 11am. This allows time for mom to feed baby and then get settled while dad can run to grab a quick bite to eat for the both of them. (This is helpful if dad is a bit overheated in the warm studio to get some air)
We currently have a home based studio in Richmond Texas. It is located on the second floor (having had c-sections myself I have made sure we only need to go up once, and down once) The studio will be warm for newborn sessions - this will aid in a happy baby while being changed and posed for shots. There will be a fan on in the room we are not shooting in but in action areas it will be a bit toasty. The goal is great photos and happy baby is key!
Payment for the session is due upon completion of the session. We take cash, check, credit card, paypal or venmo.
Newborn Photography sessions vary from baby to baby. Some can take as little as an hour and a half while others can be 3+ hours if needed. My goal for you is great photos, if baby is hungry and fussy and we haven't gotten many shots, I will encourage the baby to be fed and perhaps being swaddled or an outfit and diaper change in case something is bothering the little one. I ask clients not schedule anything for the day of their session to allow flexibility of session time if baby needs.
Approximately 14 days after your session I will email you a link to your password protected online gallery. You will be able to look through your images in the convenience and comfort of your own home. You can also download the images you love right away if the digital rights have been included in your session package.
We sell digital files at our studio and are not a shop that up charges on photo prints like some shops. We do offer in-home wall planning consultations for a flat rate of $100. For this rate we will drive to your home, and take images of your walls that you would like help planning wall art for. We have special software that will display your image selections on your own walls and envision it in different sizes as well. Once galleries are decided we can help order from high quality vendors at cost + shipping and + $10/image for editing for print.
Please contact us as soon as possible if you need to adjust your session date or time. We allow one complimentary session date change without loosing any deposit, however if it happens again, you will need to pay a new deposit to reserve a date. Deposits can not be returned but applied to new sessions only. Because of the custom nature of photography - refunds are not allowed. If there is any failure on the photographers end due to malfunction of some sort, every effort will be made to make it right, including offering a reshoot if necessary.
